When you feel ‘Wired and Tired’ and can’t sleep it’s because your level of mental/psychological arousal is greater than your biological sleep drive. When you have a lot of problems or a lot of stress, your psychological arousal goes up, you think and think and it’s hard to sleep. Identifying and coming up with an action for the problems reduces your arousal and helps you get to sleep. You could meditate to lower your arousal, but the problems are still there, so best to deal with them rather than just avoid them.

You’re awake anyway so why not move on your problems and that will help you get that sleep!

Welcome to our Sleep Awareness Week video series! In this latest episode of our Sleep Awareness Week series, Elise Wald delves into the topic of heightened arousal and its impact on our sleep quality.

As much as we desire a good night’s sleep, sometimes our bodies and minds can feel like they’re on overdrive, making it hard to wind down and fall asleep. In this video, Elise sheds light on the various factors that can cause heightened arousal, such as excitement, anxiety, activities before sleep, and more. By understanding these triggers, we can learn how to manage our arousal levels and create an environment that promotes restful sleep. If you’re tired of feeling wired before bedtime, this episode is a must-watch!
