Happy belated Valentines Day! Last week the dating app Bumble went public and was valued at over Billion. How can this happen for an app that offers its service for free?

Whether it’s Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, or others, the dating app scene has exploded in the past decade and turned an innocent match making service into a multi billion dollar industry.

Join me as I investigate what makes these services so addicting and how the companies running them benefit from it. In this video, I go into the history of how dating websites such as eharmony, Match, and OkCupid gave rise to the smartphone apps we see today. I also dive into the psychology that keeps you swiping and spending.

Finally, I explain the business models employed by these services that keep people coming back for more.
